Bought a 98 Cadillac Deville De'legance the door nor the ignition key opens the glove compartment. Is there a hidden button somewhere under the dash? What can I do?
No key to my 98 Cadillac Deville De'legance glove compartment. The two key that
came with my recent purchase dose not open it.
The best thing to do is take it to a locksmith, he can pick out the code and cut you a key just for the glove box, or it is possible that the glove box tumblers are bad, either way a locksmith would be the way to go.
Visit your local Cadillac Dealer with your vehicle registration and driver's license for proof of ownership. They can get the key code using your vehicle identification number. If the parts counter claims that they can't get it because the car is too old, call Cadillac's customer service 1-800 number. It may take some research but the key codes are still at Cadillac. In 2010 I was able to get the key codes for a 1967 Fleetwood that I owned. You can also remove the glove box door. It's usually held on by 4 bolts just below the door on the underside of the dash. Does the key open the trunk? If not you may have a valet key. HTH. -Jim
