First Subaru...2011 Outback 2.5i Premium...any concerns?

Asked by Beth Aug 15, 2020 at 08:21 PM about the 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking at my first Subaru, a 2011 Outback 2.5i Premium with 55k miles.
It had one owner and no major accidents (one ding in the lot before it was
sold in 2011). Price is $15k. Are there specific things I should be looking for?
It's 2.5L 4 cylinder...automatic (I assume CVT...?) I am most interested in
snow safety and capacity to carry a bit of a load (either cargo on top or
maybe hitch a small trailer)...thanks!

It's a little over priced at $15,000. Why don't you ask if the seller if they ever had the timing belt, water pump or thermostat replaced. Normally, it's either time or mileage, it's been 9 years, this is when this is normally done... I'd use that as a negotiation point. Yes, it's a CVT, but, be careful, CVT's are not generally known for being good tow vehicles, if it's a light weight trailer and you only do it occasionally, it will be fine. The tow capacity on that car is 2,700 pounds. Good luck.
