Took a picture of under my escape. It doesn't look like it's AWD. But I'm no car guy.

You are right, in the middle of the vehicle/wishbone suspension should be a differential and axle shafts from that going to the rear wheel hubs. So your Escape is FWD only.

wow then I just had a crooked dealer. I was told all the ford escapes are AWD. I traded in my sedan for another FWD. What can I do now? Return it? I bought a ford at a KIA dealership. whoops.

Not all Ford Escapes are AWD, FWD models were an option. Tracy is right, time to get some compensation.
