I have had issues with a local BMW dealer. Where can I post this on your site?

Question type: General

Stay as far away from this dealer as you can! I have lost thousands of dollars becuase
of the car I bought from them. It is a 2008 528i BMW. It only had 17,000 miles on it so
I thought at $26k 2 years ago it was a real "bargain". Sadly, low mileage can
sometimes be a detriment I later found out. Below is the approximate mileage when
"issues" occurred and the problems I encountered.
1. 3 weeks after I bought the car it needed new brakes. ($650.00) Luckily the car had a
few months left on the service warranty so Reading replaced them.
2. Within a year, I started having all kinds of problems and was concerned that
something major could happen. Luckily,8 months after buying the car, I bought an
extended warranty from this dealer through Zurich or by now I would have lost the car.
(warranty cost me $2500.00)
3. 10/23/14: Engine light on. Needed  to replace pump. Cost $485.00 paid $200.00
cash out of pocket from a local mechanic
4.10/30/14. Driving on the highway the transmission malfunction warning light went on.
took the car to another dealer and was told the entire transmission had to be replaced.
Car only had 32,608 miles. I called Reading and they said they had a local Aamco
shop who could fix it because they did not service BMW transmissions.
The cost for a rebuilt trans was $6500.00 plus other work. I had to pay over $400.00
out of pocket. The biggest problem was that they kept the car for a month and I had to
pay a $1000.00 car rental fee . The warranty company said the job only took 3 days
and it was not their problem AAMCO did not have the parts!
5. 12/31/14:  33,397 miles: Engine light on: sealing frommet had to be replaced. Car
needed 3 new tires to pass inspection also! New sway bar bushing had to be installed.
New headlight bulb had to be installed:
                     a. Rental Car Hertz:  $1000.00 (month)
                     b. Turnersville BMW engine light check  $134.00
                     c. AAMCO: Additional $400.00 cash /not covered by warranty
                     d. Zurich Extended Warranty:  $2300.00 (cost)
                     3. 3 new tires    $779.18
                     f. Bulb replacement:  $73.66
                     g. Sway bar bushing $100.00 ded. due by me after warranty
Total Costs in 2 years with Zurich  Warranty:   $4,786.84
IF I HAD NOT BOUGHT WARRANTY;  $8851.98
Folks: Above can all be verified by receipts!

Hmmm, I think you have a used BMW problem and not a dealer problem. Buying a new or certified BMW is pretty safe, but buying a non certified used BMW with no service history can be an expensive mistake as you found out. You had issues with a car not a dealer and people like you should take the blame and not blame the dealer. Remember, the dealer did not design or build the car. They just sell and service them. Maybe next time buy a more problem free car such as Lexus, Infiniti, Acura or similar. German and English cars can be repair nightmares.

Agree with Bob. Especially on the brakes. 3 weeks after you bought the BMW, it needed brakes. News Flash: It needed new brakes before you bought it. Buyers that don't take a used car to an independent/trusted mechanic for a Pre-Sale multi-point inspection BEFORE they buy it, are just looking for trouble and taking on all the risk. Not the selling dealer's responsibility, unless they flat out lied to you, e.g. "oh we had it all checked out by our mechanic and this BMW doesn't need any maintenance or repairs."

I agree. For now on I will buy a certified preowned one. Also, I will never buy one that is sold to a dealer in an auction, in which I found out later that this 528i was.
