shifter seems loose on my new 335i. It wobbles around over any kind of uneven pavement. dealer says this is normal. Is it?
I have noticed shifters getting looser on the newer vehicles. If the dealership says it is normal, I would not worry about it. Seems like manufacturers have gone to looser shifters to help with shifting for people who are not always as strong with working a stick.
I haven't noticed it on my 08, but will watch for that
BMW has always made a loose shifter their good for the first couple hundred miles then the shifter begins to get sloppy and loose. Mainly for the reason of the plastic shift bushings used in the selector rods. The fix would be to replace the plastic bushings with new copper ones. I don't know if you'll be able to find any since your car is so new. If you need more help email the guys at bavarianpower.com they know quite a bit.
There is actually a recall on the shifter. Mine was replaced when I brought it to the dealership for the first oil change.
