How much to replace the oil pan gasket on a 2005 BMW 325i?
Are you sure it's not leaking from the valve cover gasket or the Oil filter housing gasket and running down to the pan?
Ditto. You can trust Tom, not only does he know cars, but Bimmers 300 series especially Clean as well as possible, DON"T steam clean or at car-wash, water can get in to critical electrical components. Spray some Gunk or some kind of solvent and wipe with rag...yeah I know a PITA but might save you a lot of work ..then watch for leak, either look while running if really bad or after driving a while
Thank you! Tom, I changed the valve cover gasket and the oil filter about 2 months ago;,back then I was told the oil pan gasket needed to be replaced as well. I think this mechanic is over charging me.
Labor is what is driving the cost. Here is a thread describing what needs to be removed to complete the project.....http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=949089, my guess is he's charging you $500 on up.
2006 325: Got a quote for $1290 to replace the oil gasket. Quote estimate feels very high, but explained because of the labor to access and remove engine. Feels high, but I am apparently facing a "need to repair" situation with 98K car (Escondido, CA)
$350 is what I'm getting charged to replace it.
Sylvister where is that shop
bmw dealership quoted me at 2100 dollers 847 just for the oil pan. went to a pull a part and took it off myself for 36 dollers. theres a video on youtube you can follow step by step and will help guide you to do the job if you get confused. so at the end of the day i just got the oil pan and the oil and saved my self thousands. hope this helps any of you out some.
BMW Ballarat Australia quoted me $3,500 to change Oil Pan gasket on 2005 318i
