How safe is it to change a BMW 320D battery change from 90ah to 100ah?

Dear experts,
I have a BMW 320D 2010 model whose battery is
dead. If i go to BMW Service center, they say yours
is a 10 yr old car and the 90ah battery you have is
discontinued and hence a newer version of 92ah
will need to be installed for 700USD. If i ask a local
repair shop, they say they can install an exide or
amaron 100ah battery for 200USD. I dont think a
slightly bigger size battery can damage anything
as the current drawn will decided by the load
connected. Still, any such experience ? Can I save
some money by doing a local repair with higher
sized battery?

I see no issue. You do need to set the charging system to accept the new battery.

The battery will be fine. You will most likely need to program the different capacity battery though.

If you have the correct scanner you can program your battery yourself but most shops probably don't have the scanner needed. A BMW specialist would have it though.
