Viewing the vehicle I discussed with Ed the salesman, posting a complaint, my email being blocked

Asked by GuruD4TLV Aug 05, 2017 at 07:51 PM about the 2010 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab LB V6 4WD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

i have been looking for a toyota truck for about a month. I contacted Newton
Auto Group by email. Ed called me immediately. It was a Monday. I told him I
would call and make an appointment for Wednesday. I called him Tuesday
and made an appointment for Wednesday. I specifically stated that if he sold
the truck please let me know. I told him I would understand. I drove 60 miles
one way from Cranston RI to Newton Ma. He had a different truck parked in
front of the lot. I told him which truck I wanted to see. Ed replied oh I thought
you meant this one. He contacted me by email through the page that showed
which truck I wanted. He said oh, that one was sold. I took vacation day at
work to go to this dealership. I told him I was going to put up a bad review for
this bait and switch. Now my email is blocked. What kind of fairness is this? I
want others to not make the same mistake and trust this dealership. The one
person that had a negative response was told they were wrong. So if I say I
am going to complain my email is blocked? What type of integrity does this
kind of action is allowed by cargurus. I have been a great word of mouth
advertiser for your site. You can check the page that was posted with the
truck I was interested in and see that I am being honest. I hope your are able
to correct this error. Ed and his fellow salesman would not even show me the
paperwork that would show they had just sold the truck. They both couldn't
find it.  I wanted the long bed toyota tacoma and he had a short bed one in
front of the dealership.

not saying you wasted your time writing this review...but you wasted your time writing this review. Ed will not see it nor will his horse.

I negotiated with a Toyota dealer to buy a new Tacoma crew cab 4x4. My salesman called me to tell me my truck was in and that I could pick it up. I took off from work, drove there and no truck and no "Ed". Ed had gone on vacation and his boss had no idea what was going on. Right in front of the Boss, I walked across the street and bought a brand new F150 4x4! Best decision I ever made.

I understand you frustration. I too would be very upset. However as noted above, posting here is not as effective as posting in other places. You could contact the dealers owner (the guy that signs the sales managers pay check). Also contacting the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. Check with to see if MA has any "bait and switch" statutes or laws and if so contact the local District Attorney to see if action can be taken. Although in reality none of these will likely be rewarding to you, and this likely should be chalked up to a life lesion and be better prepared in any future negations.

better off posting to the dealership website or dealerrater.com.....or even facebook
