2010 CRV code issues

Asked by Ctrain Oct 01, 2017 at 08:13 PM about the 2010 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have the following codes coming up
P0507 P0171 P0420 P0497
Are some related to the other? What's best way to
try and address the problem? Car runs great. Gas
mileage a mile or two under what I've been used to.
I changed plugs and wires about a year ago.
Appreciate the help

Each other those codes are typically independent of each other. P0497 code definition. The P0497 code, or Evaporative Emission System Low Purge Flow, is indicative of a problem somewhere in the EVAP control system. The P0420 code is set when the Catalyst monitor sees a decrease in voltage from the rear Monitoring Oxygen Sensor(s) and an increase in switching activity—from rich to lean to rich, etc.—that closely resembles the front Oxygen Sensor(s) during the time the computer is activating the Catalytic Converter monitor test An "under reporting" Mass Air Flow Sensor can be a common cause of a code P0171. Essentially, this means that the Air Flow Sensor is telling the computer that much less air is entering the engine than actually is. P0507 code definition. P0507 is a generic OBD2 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) referencing a fault within the idle control system. This code is related to P0505 and P0506 It's best you agrees these issues quickly, the biggest concern is that you are likely throwing back unspent fuel into the exhaust. This fuel will cause corrosion of your catalytic converter. Did you have any electrical issues of late? If so clear these codes out and see if any return as a first step.

How should I go about addressing them? I haven't had any electrical issues. I change oil and filters regularly. Changed AC compressor recently but other then that the car has been running great for the last 5 years.

Not sure. The D was flashing so I ran a diagnostic test. Changed the 2nd clutch sensor and no more flashing D. The codes all came up when I was looking for what the flashing D problem was.

The codes where in history or ' recent'? If recent, it's fairly odd combination of codes. I still recommend you have the codes cleared. Then keep driving, see what happens.

Ok thank you. My cel is now on again so I'll run a test to see what comes up.

Wait until you read the current codes again. Also, what's the mileage on this car?

Wow! That's good! I'd take your car to a reputable shop for diagnosis. ODB2 codes are rarely a one to one match to parts. And btw the p420 is flagged when the reading from the up and down stream sensors are not within the range set my the manufacturer. The cause can be from the engine performance, not necessarily a failure of the Catalytic Converter itself.

Keep me posted Ms. V. BTW, do you have a reliable mechanic that you'very been using for maintenance?

Mr V. Haha. I do but he's old school. I'm not sure how good he is diagnosing exactly what some issues are.
