oil for 2010 CRV

Asked by Nov 18, 2014 at 12:15 PM about the 2010 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had my oil changed at Harmony Honda in Kelowna, bc.  I just noticed now that 5W - 20 Oil was put in.  However, i have always has 0 w-20 Synthetic oil in.  Also, the oil on the dip stick is not clear, but is murky, which i feel is odd for new oil.
Thank.

Once you start using a synthetic you should never go back to conventional oil, there are concerns about the way the seals have been retreated with the formula in the synthetic oil that switching back could cause oil leaks. As far as the murky look are you sure it is not milky color as that would indicate a head or head gasket problems. I would take it back and tell them you are very disatisfied with the service and show the service manager the oil color it is possible there maybe contamination in their equipment.
