This must be easy but I don't know: L322 2009 4.4 in Middle East.
L322 2009 4.4 in Middle East. Cooling fan has become loud, I assume that the viscous coupling is becoming permanently viscous. but... temp gauge shows no over heating ad it uses about 1 litre of water a week. Even so, today after 20 mins running, engine dropped to 0rpm and tried to restart, in traffic three times. Then in parking garage started knocking at low revs, then cut out when engaging gear. Now will turn over bu not start. I'm guessing crank shaft sensor delaminating but that doesn't eplain the fan. It smells very hot but then it was 40C outside. water not boiling over and is pressurised.
Update this morning: started fine but fan still running even when cold. Ran up to 4000rpm and fan finally decoupled. Engine quiet after a little ticking when first started, which I have not heard before. Does anyone think that it might be coolant circulation problem? If so why does temp gauge not show it?
