2009 Toyota RAV4 should I keep it?

Asked by fxreyman Jun 17, 2019 at 02:02 PM about the 2009 Toyota RAV4 Base V6 4WD

Question type: General

I have a 2009 Toyota RAV4 base 4WD model with the V6 engine. The vehicle has 206,000 miles on it. The car is showing wear and tear, with interior seat stains, and minor blemishes on the exterior paint (Lunar Mist). Also I have been informed that I will need new brakes (front and rear), and new tires. Maybe $2500 total repairs. I drive for Uber and put about 900 miles on the car each week. Is it worth keeping this car and plunking down that much money or should I consider a newer vehicle? Thanks for your opinions.

New tires and brakes should not cost $2,500. Is this dealer prices? Get another quote. With that much driving you should be looking for another car.

$2500 was just an estimate. 4 new tires (85k treadwear) will cost about $650 and I will need a front end alignment which is around $100. Brakes will cost approximately $900. The cleaning of the interior will run me approximately $150. That comes to about $1800. So I was off by about $700.
