How to reset computer on a 2009 impala after service of New battery and replaced gas purge solenoid and air injection solenoid replaced?

Asked by Aug 14, 2013 at 08:12 AM about the 2009 Chevrolet Impala LT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The service engine light came on. Went to Auto zone and the codes came up gas purge canister code and I had it repaired. The light did not go off. New code reading was secondary air injection code. The Air injection solenoid was replaced. The service engine light went off. After 4 days of  driving the car the computer has not reset and I can not get my E check done. How do you reset the computer?

Without a scan tool there is a "drive cycle", too lengthy to post here, that can be done. Google "OBD II drive cycle". In the meantime keep your gas tank between 3/4 and 1/4. Drive normally for about a week and all the readiness monitors will set. However if your check engine light remains on you still have a problem. HTH. -Jim

Chris, by "E check" cargirl19 is referring to emissions check. -Jim
