I am repairing a 2009 Chevy HHR with a 2.4L Ecotect LE5
It is sending an error code for a Camshaft Position Sensor. It runs rough at stops lights
and pretty much shows most of the symtoms relating to it. I have now replaced both
sensors and checked all the wiring and it still runs very rough and I don't know what to do
next. Im am trying to eliminate the least expensive things first as i am on a budget but i
need it to pass smog.
When was it's last good tune up? Compression tested?
How could i test this at home? I'm sorry I know more about the old engines rather than alll the new electronic controlled ones
Compression gauge with the correct adapter, disconnect the ignition main fuse and then do it just like the old rigs. Only problem is getting to the spark plugs. Visual inspection of the plugs, if the electrodes are burnt off or badly rounded, replace them, sparkplug boots, etc. air and fuel filters.
