Could be a bad fuel pump or oxygen sensors. Sensors run about $70 bucks.

When was the last time you had a tuneup ? Also replace air and fuel filter if have not done so in awhile.

Also add some fuel injector cleaner to to gas tank and clean throttle with throttle body cleaner.

IF...you're running her with a dirty Air Filter...and...a lot of AC....that mileage sounds about right. Spark Plugs should be replaced every 100,000 miles with the OEM iridium type. That Tune up suggested above sounds like a good idea.

What do you think about the normal consumption of gas per gallon for the camry 08

1 people found this helpful.

Well...don't believe what the Vehicle Manufacturer states what the mileage should be for a particular Make, Model, Year/Engine of a particular vehicle. Don't believe what a particular OWNER says his/her vehicle achieves for gas mileage. To many variables. Tire pressures...Tire type....driving style....Transmission type and condition, etc. If you think your gas mileage is too low....get the car tuned up...set the tire pressures correctly....make sure the transmission is shifting up through all the gears...and drive her like she is a little baby. BTW...make sure you are filling the gas tank properly before AND after you're fuel economy test.

no i've had no solution for my issue my vehicle dosn't make even 16 mile per gallon iam really upset do you have any idea where is the best and affordable place for tune up in orange county

Wow....16mpg? Definitely a problem. IF the Check Engine Light is NOT on......your vehicle needs to be Scanned for Engine and Transmission Data. This requires a competent repair shop that has a Scan Tool...paying special attention to FUEL TRIM DATA. Other issues with Brake Drag...and Transmission torque Converter Clutch...should also be checked. Not being from your area.....I could not suggest a repair facility. Good Luck and get back to us with an update.

It is a known problem with this generation Toyota I have one a 09 with the same exact issue I'm lucky to get 15 mpg dealer said they know of the problem but have no solution me being a mechanic also can not figure it out I've tried it all.my only thought that I haven't tried is fuel pump getting to much volts and over charging the pump causing higher psi and more consumption but I haven't noticed rich fouled plugs
