2008 LLBean Subaru Outback - Vehicle Dynamics Control Warning Light

Asked by chuckgina1 Jul 23, 2016 at 04:49 PM about the 2008 Subaru Outback 2.5 i L.L. Bean Edition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just picked up my car from having the rack and pinion and starter replaced. I
bought it used a few months ago and they had both been replaced before I
bought it. Well, both parts were bad so the dealer replaced them both. While
driving later today, I noticed that the Vehicle Dynamics Control Warning Light
was on. I am guessing that something needs to be reset, car is driving fine.
Any suggestions? not sure if it's just LLBean or Limited LL Bean edition.
Thanks!

Sure do, go back to the dealership and ask them to reset the light. They just worked on your car and forgot to do it. Bad rack and pinion will definitely affect the stability of your car and I think they are related. See this, https://www.autohausaz.com/html/steering-and-suspension- systems.html

Question, was the light vehicle stability control light "ON" when you bought them the car??? My guess is that it was NOT.

VDC is NOT directly related to the rack, ps, nor of course the starter! Have the system scanned and reset. If the light recurs chase it down. Note that bad racks are rare, and bad starters almost unheard of, btw. Please be more careful, Mark....

OK, thanks for the clarification, sure sounded like it was linked to the steering.

HI, THANKS FOR THE HELP. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE DEALER WHO DID THE WORK TO RESET THE LIGHT TOMORROW.

chuckgina1- thanks, please let us know what the dealership says. Again, the question is whether the light was "ON" before you had the work done? I'm very curious about how that happened?
