How long should brakes last?

just curious.  I have a  2008 Saturn Aura.  Good car.

Tom is 100% correct. I have seen that many reports on Product Review about people only getting 20,000klms out of a set of pads and someone else getting 60,000klms out of the same pads on the same vehicles. The biggest killer of brake pads are fools who ride the brake pedal. Constant friction glazes the pads and the rotors, resulting in diminished braking, squealing and ultimately premature destruction of both. Autos will usually use them up quicker.
