I changed my headlights and headlight connecter now the car wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband and I own an 08 Saturn Vue XE and we went to the auto parts store with no problem with the car. We changed out the headlights and the connecter right there in the parking lot and then the car would not start!! Starter is 2 months old as well as the alternator. Battery has enough juice in it so that's not the problem. What can it be? We have tried every thing to get it to reset but nothing is working. Please help!!!

Time to pullout the old voltage tester and start tracing voltage starting at the starter solenoid

A bad selinoid clicks but doesn't let starter work, if you get power and no start it's most likely the selinoid I agree with irodri

The cables can be corroded even if they are tight. Did you try a jump start?

selinoids are good. will not start with jump either. battery was tested and that's in working condition.

Can you actually hear the clicking noise on the starter itself? If you do and If you have voltage going to the small terminal at the solenoid but not from battery to starter, you will only hear a click, it means cables are corroded or loose from battery to starter. but if you verified voltage from battery to starter then replace starter.
