Engine for 2001 Bentley Arnage red

We have a 2001 Bentley Arnage and the motor and transmission are shot. Can
we replace it with an American engine that is cheaper to maintain

I am sure you could install a Chevy V8 and Chevy transmission in it but making it smog legal will take some work. You will devalue your car a lot with this bastardization.
