2004 X3 -traction control light came on, after dead battery jumped
I went to test drive this vehicle - liked it other than the traction control light. After the vehicle was jumped, the dealer turned the wheel one way, then completely the other way. Light went out. Is this normal after low/no voltage, or symptomatic of a problem? Any particular problems in general with this model year? Need reliable low maintenance vehicle and the crap I have been buying isn't working for me. Figured I'd try a BMW..
Be careful. BMWs can develop electrical problems that are difficult, costly, and sometimes impossible to fix. Personally, I'd pass on this particular car. HTH. - Jim

Jim- it could really be a reason to pass? We've looked at a few others of the same vintage (can't afford newer model, and can't afford to throw money away either) and this one seemed to be the best of whats out there for right now. Michael - I will look at your link - thank you both! - Donna
You're welcome, Donna. Just trying to error on the side of caution. Don't want to see you get stuck with a car that's going to give you problems. You might want to discuss this with your local BMW Dealer's service department. There may have been a service bulletin issued about this. HTH. -Jim
