Question type: Maintenance & Repair

was pulling a empty utility trailer at 75 mph and noticed engine starting to overheat and could smell trans fluid leaking but no visable leaks anywhere, pulled over and checked fluid was 3 inches up on dip stick. got back on road back to 75 same thing slowed to 60 temp came down and no more fluid smell but fluid is burned, drives around town perfect no issues, shifts great, no leaks and temp is normal????

Pulling any trailer at 75 mph is just a dumb idea. Great way to overheat a transmission that wasn't really designed for towing. Is the transmission fluid color brawn or black now. If it is get it changed.

yes the honda odysey is rated for towing at 3500 lbs, has a professionaly installed transmission oil cooler and has rear air bags for stability. did a flush about 5000 miles ago a redish brown color, now it is light black and burn smell still shifts good no slippage and a little drag when you let off the gas

If the fluid is discolored get it changed immediately.
