My driver seat of my 03 Z71 Tahoe is all the way forward and won't go back. How do I fix this since the motor seems to have locked up?

Is it locked (you don't hear it turning) or it just won't move? There are drive cables that go from the little motors to the control system (gears and the such) these cables will break or bind up and nothing works. It's best to take the seat out of the truck, throw it on a bench upside down; disconnect the fore and aft drive cable and see if you can move it by spinning the cable; a cordless drill is ideal; just "chuck up" the cable and spin it one way or the other and see if it still moves, If it doesn't, you need a new drive cable. If it does, either the transmission (there is a little step-down gearing in it) or the motor have problems, replace them. You best bet might be to go to a salvage yard and pick up a used seat base; there are a number of years that are interchangeable.

Thank you for your assistance. The seat had already been removed and thoroughly checked by a technician. Then another technician said that I needed a used seat and is attempting to find one from a salvage place. Now,the seat began functioning again but to go back, I push the knob forward and vice versa. To go up, I push the knob down and vice versa. It seems to be a computer issue, because the heater will go on but shuts off after a minute or so. The digital display on my mirror is acting up as well. A friend of mine who has the same year Z71 Suburban had to have a computer system replaced in hers. I love the vehicle and engine and mechanics otherwise are fabulous so I guess I'll pursue getting the computer rectified. Thank you again, Coss71!

You probably have the settings set to seats adjusts when entering the car. You need to Turn it off on the dash menu. Also on the driver door you can set it for 2 drivers 1 and 2. Once you adjust your seat to it’s comfortable location then you press and hold 1 till it makes a noise then release .
