i have a 2001 ford explorer is not felx fuel i use 87 in in now can i use the 88 fuel will i hurt my ford explorer

Going up an octane grade will not harm the engine. Going down may exhibit some problems. Flex fuel only refers to the percentage of alcohol in the gas that the car will run on. If you are at 10% as most ethanol fuels are today, you will not have a problem.
