clinking in rear end

I have a Ford explorer the car was running
fine to store when I got back in car put in
reverse the rear end locked up and I put in
drive gave gas and then back in reverse it
was k then when I put in drive to go it
starting making a clink clink noise what
could this be

What is "K"? At any rate, this will be something beyond a simple check or replacing an over the counter part.
