Check out warranties but Ford had the best warranty going that I know of. Their rebuilt transmissions also include all new electronics and a new torque converter which other builders probably don't include. I would hope that this price includes installation.

Ford offers a 3 year, unlimited miles warranty on their rebuilt transmissions and that includes installation.

Sounds like broken pin on the band. If that is all that is wrong with the tranny a reputable shop would charge between 9 and 1200 to replace band. That model tranny also experiences servo bore wear problems.

Ford dealer $5500 At least $2,400 for a transmission shop rebuild (servo bore upgrade etc) 1 year warranty. At least $2,220.00 re-manufactured installed 3 year unlimited warranty. Streetsmart transmissions are remanufactured (servo problems fixed) free shipping to your local shop, 3 year unlimited mile, parts and labor warranty. I just did this to my 06 XLT 4wd... Ordered a remanufactured 5R55S trans from streetsmart $1770 + $450 to install at local trans shop. = $2220 out the door in 2 weeks total.
