2008 Ford Escape

Asked by Chum850 Nov 28, 2018 at 05:18 PM about the 2008 Ford Escape XLT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife has a 2008 Ford Escape that is getting
horrible gas mileage. It's only getting about 9 mpg
in town.  We can't even afford to drive it.  It was
showing codes before and I had the oxygen
sensors and catylitic converter replaced.  I've also
changed the fuel filter, air filter , and took it into a
shop.  They couldn't figure out why because it's
showing no codes.  Last night a code came on
saying it was the "catylitic system ".  Which doesn't
make sense because I had the o2 sensors and
converter replaced. I went ahead and cleared the
code to see if it will come back on.  So I'm
scratching my head at this point and reaching out
to you all.  Please Help Me!!!

Did you also clean throttle body ? If you are using the 87 octane gas try using the middle or better yet the high octane gas or you could put in some fuel injector cleaner to gas tank and see if that helps.

Thanks Firebird. I'll try the fuel injector cleaner. I've ran seafoam through it before. LX30 i can't remember exactly what code. I just seen it and the guy cleared it and told me to let him kow when it comes back on. If it comes on I'll let you know
