why does my car make squealing noises only with the heater on?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whenever  I turn my heater on I hear a squeal, and it does it only while the heat is on. I had a couple incidents where as soon as I would turn on my car it would make a very loud squeal for about 15 seconds, which happened 3 times in the past 2 months. I am really concerned about my heating system, i looked at the belt and it seemed to be in good condition.

Also, my brakes make a grinding noise only when I use them the first time I start my car. I just got new brakes and rotors in August, so they should be fine. But I am still worried with the sound I hear once in a while. Its hard for me because I dont have any car garages I can trust to look at my car and give me an honest answer and not mess everything up on purpose. Is there any ideas of what these problems could be?

I am thinking that the Blower Motor has a bad bearing. No fix, just have to replace it. Your brakes should not grind after just replacing them-do you trust the shop that did it? I would take it back to them and have them check for the noise.

the squeeling is usually the cause of a worn out drive belt. or tentioner on the drive belt that runs the altinator.... were the rotors replaced when the brakes were done? if not the edge of the rotor has rust on it ... and believe it or not the edge rusts just enough over night that the rust conects on the edge of the brake caliper mounting bracket.. until movement of the rotor wears it down .. at which point it stops grinding ..
