if the check engine light comes on,could it be the fuel pump needs replacing?

CEL comes on sparatically & then goes off for a couple of days.

you are going to have to have those trouble codes read. go to autozone or somewhere like it and they will read the codes for you.

Fuel pump is not a likely solution but you won't know until you determine what codes are being generated to cause the CEL to come on.
