ٍA suffocating smell of gas in camry 2007
the car is camry XLE 2.4Ltr, millage 65000 km, the problem is am suffering a suffocating smell of gas inside the car, it's very annoying, it becomes intolerable directly after filling the tank and during the next 24 hours, then it fades away in the next days but it still there, i noticed that it disappears when i turn of the AC while the fan is still running, but it gets more intensive again when i turn the AC on.. i took the car to the local dealer many times, and every time they say they checked the car and nothing wrong.. am totally confused and pissed off.. so help please..
Only possible answer is like what happened on my maxima, leaking gas tank or a line of gas is leaking near the a/c ones. If it's none of these i would agree with them and say the car is fine...
i suppose they checked all the line of gas, from the tank to the engine as they said, but it's impossible that the car is fine, it smells like the gas station !!! if it's fine i would have been smelling only my air freshener, now i only smell GAS and noting else, the smell is so intensive that it catches on my clothes when i drive for long time !!
Could be leaky o-rings in the fuel injectors. Take it to another dealer if the first one won't fix it.
Hatim, If I read that it happens th most, when you fill up, sounds like either your gas tank vent line is leaking into your car, or your fuel pump could B leaking, pull out the oil stick & see if the oil smells like gas, if not, look for a small puddle inder your car, the next time you fill up!~! If I kneew you lived in my Area, I'd give you a Number of a man that'd KNOW!!
Thank u very much Perry, i live in Sudan, google it if u didn't hear of it :-) .. i always watch the place under the car, there is no single drop, but u know what, i'll take it to the dealer again and mention the tank vent line and the fuel pump, i assume they checked it before but since they didn't mention it in name, i guess i gotta tell them about it.. thanks for your advice bro
I know where Sudan is, Long ride!! Or flight or WATEVER!! Had th same problem with an older corolla, it was th pump filling the crankcase with gas, Thats worth checking!! We've had problems over here w/th 4 cylinders, If ya don't change the oil every 2500 miles, they blow up!! I'm stickin with the 3.0 v-6.
