Is there any modication to fix holding the brake and turning the power steering wheel, which will usually result in a binding or locking steering wheel effect?
1996 gmc c1500, setting in parking lot or turning to maneuver in a parking spot or backing a trailer on a hard surface, holding the brake pedal can cause the steering wheel to bind. Is there a cause or a mod fix for this problem? thanks Wendell.
The wheels want to rotate a little when you turn sitting still. If you hold the brakes it will make it incredibly hard to turn. You don't happen to have hydroboost brakes do you? I've never seen it on a 1500 but I've got to ask.
no hydroboost. I have not noticed this on my 2003 ford pickup or any car or truck I have drove. maybe just this series year models.
also this truck is stiff to turn setting still, parking maneuvers. I replaced the pump, hoses, and steering gear box. but sometimes it steers easy setting still?? Had the pressures gauged on pump output, 200psi idling, 800psi turning the wheel and 1350+ deadhead or at the wheel lock, stop. any ideas?
