How much monies do you have to play with? I built a 97 5.7L Vortec for my '95 Silverado. You will have some hurtles to over come with the computer also. You have a OBDII which makes things a bit easier. My engine pushes 400 hp. and is capable of more. The trany I wouldn't know for sure what to put in. My trany is rebuilt by the best where I live, all I did was put a heavy duty torque converter in it. Mine is the 4L60-E trany, but I know there are more heavy duty tranys to go in.
