Can I turbocharge a 1991 chevy k1500 extended cab with a 350 automatic motor? Possibly what kind of turbo and cooling system? Trying to make a prerunner and I really would like to beef the engine more

Yes but turbo tubing & upturned exhaust manifolds are a nightmare! Also a tricky waste gate & intercooler. I would supercharge it. Belt direct drive kits are availible & much easier. Superchargers are a spool type air compressor & much different than an exhaust driven turbine / turbo.

Either way, is your motor strong enough to hold the extra boost? Will the transmission hold up? Some motors are made to take the extra power on the pistons, rods, and crankshaft, others will for a while until damage starts. The transmissions need to be built up for the higher hp. Also the drive train and rear ends. Do the homework first before upping the HP.

It depends on the psi boost. Are we talking min. or max boost like 6 lbs. or 18 ? That's where special internal engine parts are needed.
