how do change a fuel pressure regulator on a vortec 5.7

Take off the upper intake, the regulator is on the backside of the fuel injector unit "spider".

installed a new regulator back into the spider unit but noticed that there isn't a vacuum hose that connects to the open in of the regulator. Q, is suppose to be one?
