okay so I just did my tune up. I drove the truck yesterday and it drove fine. everyone keeps telling me that the timings off. but I have everything in the right firing order and now its not starting its back firing and now I have smoke coming from under the hood. the spark im getting is an orange color. the truck is acting like it wants to start the motor turns but it wont completely start. please help!

just changed spark plugs, cap, rotors, and wires. the truck ran fine and started fine just yesterday.

Chevy C1500, Motor350 5.7 V8.

Did you disconnect the timing wire before you attempted to set the timing? It should be under a cover on the firewall. A tan wire connector I think. You have to disconnect it while using your timing light and adjusting the distributor. Disconnecting it takes the pcm out of the equation, so that it isn't trying to compensate for your timing procedure.

Um, if I'm looking at your picture correctly you have 4 plug wires missing from the distributor cap. Where are they? That'll definitely make it not run!! HTH. -Jim

Is it possible that you didn't get the wires back on the correct plugs? Happened to me once.

that was the picture I took before I replaced everything.. all 8 plugs and wires are there..

Since the 4 plug wires were all off at once (always a bad idea) I'm with Mike. Double check the plug wires for being hooked up to the correct spark plugs. If that checks out, make sure that you're getting fuel. If that checks out, run a compression test. If all cylinders test low, it's jumped timing. HTH. -Jim
