Throttle position sensor

Question type: General

I replaced my throttle position sensor on my truck and it is
still reading the p0121 code. It still has service engine soon
light on. Saying like a performance issue. I cleaned out the
throttle body but didn't work. Would it need to be relearned
or reprogrammed at all?

After doing a repair you have to take a scan tool and delete the code which will cancel the check engine light. Then if the code reappears, then there might be a problem. You can also cancel the check engine light by disconnecting the battery a few minutes. But be aware the radio code may need to be reentered if it has one.

I've taken it to AutoZone to get code removed and it instantly popped right back on. I've also tried that battery trick to get it to go off and it does for about 10 seconds then comes back on. Sometimes while driving it will go off and my truck will run really funny. It will sit at 2000 rpm and will shift funny. Then come back on and it will run fine.
