passenger tire and brakes

Asked by Jan 03, 2016 at 12:42 AM about the 2002 Buick Century Custom Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Changed my front brakes and I noticed my tire and
rotor both can wiggle back and forth, tword the
center of car and back out toward me. I drive it a
little and it sounds like my rotor is grinding on the
caliper. The wheel did have the movement but not
the sound before I changed brakes.  What can
cause this?

Wheel bearings. Did you have them off?

FordNut is right, there should not be any movement in and out, the bearings on this vehicle are sealed in the hub assembly and not serviceable so the hub assembly will have to be replaced, if that is indeed the problem. Has there been a whirring noise that increased as the speed increased and decreased as the speed decreased, if so then it is a hub assembly, and I would recommend replacing them in pairs, so do both fronts at the same time.
