Fuel booster accidentally added to the transmission

Asked by Jenna Apr 26, 2020 at 03:23 PM about the 1993 Chevrolet Suburban C1500 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We purchased a Seaf Foam additive, However it was not the transmission additive, it was an octane booster. Without reading the label closely, about half of the can was put in the transmission before we realized.
The engine has not been run since that moment. I know this is not good, but how bad is it?

Correction: Sea Foam Motor Treatment (says safe for fuel and Oil systems) .. but it is in the transmission now :/

the Safety Data Sheet list both products as identical composition ??? http://www.sueschauls.com/Seafoam_motor_treatment.pdf

Drain all the transmission fluid and replace it. I hope you did not start the car. If you did start the car I would change the ATF 2 or 3 times before driving it. Start it up for a couple of minutes in between changes.
