Blown head gasket?

The spark plugs on my Sebring Convertible 06
seem to have a black liquid (which looks a lot like
engine oil) when I pull them out. There is probably
engine oil leaking into the well. Because no check
engine light has come one I haven't assumed that
this is a serious problem. About two months ago I
filled the engine oil level to the highest mark
because it was at the lowest, and now it is back to
about a quarter of the way between the low and
high oil level. Is this a problem worth taking the
engine apart? What should I look for when I do?

Thanks for the correction. So the oil seems to be in the combustion chamber, although car is running fine and I have no problem with misfires. How did it get in there? The rubber cover is always completely dry when I take it out and the electrodes look normal.
