Question type: Maintenance & Repair

so a few days ago i heard a bubbling sound and a weird smell. My fiance didn't think anything of it. Then the "check engine" light came on yesterday and the light that tells you the transmission is overheating. Wouldn't you believe it, we popped the hood and theres coolant all over the engine. can anyone help me out? i really don't want to go to a mechanic and spend a fortune if its something i can fix myself.

You will have to find out what is leaking and replace it. Hopefully it's just a hose. One bit of warning DO NOT EVER REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT!!!!!!!!

I put the warning in my reply as your problem is a common one and as a heads up to others who are having the same problem. Those Jeeps can take a lot of abuse so , and it sounds like you did, I don't think you did, any harm. It sounds like a upper radiator hose. If so, replace all the coolant hoses if its in your budget. If one hose went the others aren't far behind it and you'll save some money not having to replace the antifreeze a second time.
