I crashed my 07 impreza 2.5i. The car is totaled. However, the impact was on the rear end of the car. I have a potential buyer for the engine. If the engine is fine how much should I be asking for?

About $1200-1500 for motor depending on whether you leave all the accesories with it, trans could be $700-1000 depending on whether it's a manual or auto. ECU and wiring harness would be about 500 as long as nothing was cut.

When a car is totalled and someone collects on the current full value from an insurance company, anything above $1 beyond that for any part of the car is considered good. Assuming the part is in good condition, I agree with hectorinhouston and call around to a couple use car shops, then undercut their price by 20%, unless you're offered more before you mention a price. Everything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
