Fuel smell inside and outside my Tahoe & possible dripping fuel backend

Asked by Jackie Oct 28, 2019 at 11:55 AM about the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My tahoe has smelled like gas passing by
backend for while. It has been taking
longer to start up when turn key as well. ( I
thought maybe starterwas goin out)
although recently I went to get in to go
home after work and the time smell was
overwhelming INSIDE my truck before
even tried to start it. I looked under
backend on drivers side where smell
usually had been coming from and I am
pretty sure there were a few small
evaporating wet spots just in front of and
twordsmiddle of back left tire on the
ground. On a 15 min drive it sucked 1/4
tank of gas and fumes inside were
nauseating. I don't wanna start itfor fear of
fire. What is wrong with it? Someone help
please! Thank you!

Clearly you have a leak. Someone needs to find it and repair it. In the meantime Stop driving the car!

It sounds like you have a fuel pump issue, have someone listen under Neath the passenger side rear tire
