Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had a problem with the Trans at 400kms it started to slip. From a stop if you take off it will rev up then slam in gear.Revers seems to be worse. The dealer can not duplicate
the problem so they can not fix it, and wont replace it. They have hooked it up to the computer and it comes back ok.They say it shifts ok. They wanted me to give it to a teck for a week to let him drive it i said no. So we are at a stand still I have a lemmon they dont no how to fix and wont replace the truck or trans. My first and last ford.
What can you suggest.

Sounds like a valve body problem. Give them your truck and let the tech drive it. You'll never get a lemon law claim if you don't give them a chance to fix the problem. Friend had a 2004 or 2005 Ranger with similar problems, there ended up being a trans recall on those trucks.

My suggestion is for you to let the Tech take your truck for the week . The only way to get a proper diagnosis is for the Tech to drive it and see if it will act up for him . Alot of times the problem will not be detected by the computer and you need to be able to drive the vehicle to try and re-create the problem . Sometimes a bad port , or valve in the transmission will cause problems , but , only at certain times. So instead of swapping transmissions , it is better to try and detect the cause of the problem, and repair it as required.

i had the same problem, its very obvious that it isnt right however ford took my truck and fixed something i think the clutches in the tranny were gone, also my 4x4 kicks in and out and they are blaming my tires so they have replaced them as well.. i have a friend with a late 06 ranger who had the same problem with the 4x4 but not the slipping tranny..
