On my 99 there is a little hidden compartment in front of the drivers side front tire. I believe it is 1 or 2 screws can't quite remember the particulars. But unfortunately no matter how I tried turning the wheel I couldnt get the battery out without removing the front tire/wheel. Good luck

Inforont of drivers tire removal of wheel is mandatory remove 5 philips screws two body plugs panel will take a little patience to finaggle out you also need a 13mm to remove tie down and 8mm to remove connections DO NOT ALTER A TOP POST TO WORK IN YOU CAR FIRE AND POSSIBLE BATTERY EXPLOSION CAN RESULT SIDE POST ONLY.
