1996 Buick Riv, Blowing hot air on driver side and cold air on passenger side ?
Heater seems to be on on Driver side , while Ac is on passenger side. Whether the climate control is on Automatic or on manual. No warning light comes on to say there is any problem.
environmental controls not responding? or clobbered up environmental filter? Someone need to get in there, check the operation of the flaps and change the environmental filter~
drop-in cabin filter replacement may get the doghouse smell out~
I will agree with the first answer. You can actually check the Actuators (doors) that can be seen on the left front end of your vehicle beneath the console near the gas pedal. Take the appropriate size wrench, disconnect the actuators and observe if they moves when the appropriate switch is engaged. If they are working, then I would refer to the switch itself. To see these actuators please refer to gmpartsdirect.com put in the vehicle type and refer to HACV. Those items are numbered 17 &18.
My 95 Riviera was doing this also. The actuator door was sticking. I was told to push the temperature button all the way up then immediately all the way down several times until the actuator door releases and opens. If it is relatively quiet you can hear the door pop open. My car does this every season that it has been sitting on A/C or heat for several months. So far it has worked every time. The most it has taken was running the temp up and down 5 times. Good luck.
