If the gas gauge does not work then the range may not either. I would use the gas tank size in gallons and estimate your fuel economy. Multiply the two to get the maximum range and then subtract about 25% to be on the safe side. Reset your trip meter and when you get close to the magic number start looking for a gas station.

As F O R said and I'd start with 250 miles on the trip odometer from a full tank. Figure your gas mileage by dividing the gallons to fill up into the exact mileage on the trip odometer. The first time I wouldn't go much more than 250 miles to be safe. Your gas tank has an 18 gallon capacity. So once you know your miles per gallon multiply that by 14 and you should be safe.
