I just replaced a fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator on a 5 speed 1990 volvo 740, what would keep it from starting or stalling?

As far as the fuel issue, could be leaking fuel injectors. You would need to to a fuel bleed down test. Otherwise could be a problem with the ignition system, bad coil, or ignition control module.
