I have a 2001 passat 1.8T that overheats
Replaced thermostat, coolant temp sensor and coolant flange. The car will run great just pushes coolant out the overflow on the recovery tank then overheats.
So either you have a flow restriction in the radiator or the cooling system is building too much pressure due to a possibly blown head gasket. A block check can tell the tale about a blown head gasket and a good radiator shop can check the coolant flow through the system.
There is no water in the oil, no water coming out of the tail pipe.
no bubbling in the recovery tank when car is running.
Was vehicle overheating before replacing thermostat and sensor ? Did you bleed air from the system after replacing thermostat ?
Then hope for just a flow restriction.
