2005 Jetta TDI w/ BRAND NEW battery installed. temp. is -13degrees today. Glow plug goes on but NO sound when I turn the key
2005 VW Jetta TDI has BRAND NEW battery w/ over 700 cold cranking amps installed 2
days ago. -13 degrees today and did NOT park in garage. Glow plug goes on but when I
turn the key she makes no sound at all. What can I do to get her going?
Still sounds like the battery. Do you have a car parts store close or someone with jumper cables? You can purchase a jump box at advance or autozone and they are very handy.
Well...I just spoke to my mechanic he said sounds like the starter just went out or could be the clutch switch. I guess I should have noted that it was a manual transmission. The battery issue he isn't sure it is that since all the lights on the dashboard go on....just when I turn the key...Nothing happens.
Yes that does make a difference. Clutch switch could be the problem too, possibly the starter. But I would still try to jump start it to see if it is battery due to super cold conditions. The lights will still burn inside because it doesn't take as much from the battery as trying to start it.
