Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My family has a 2005 Jetta 2.5 with 142,000 miles on it. We just had the
valve cover and one ignition coil replaced due to an oil leak that caused
misfiring in cylinder 1. Since this repair, we have seen large amounts of white
smoke billowing out of the exhaust that is coupled with a lot of valve clatter.
Once the valves stop clattering the smoke goes away. We took it back to the
shop that did the repair and they said it is an internal issue and would cost
$800 just for diagnosis. We also did a compression test that came back good
on all cylinders. Does anyone have any thoughts on what is causing the
smoke and why it would show up after a valve cover replacement? I'm happy
to provide more specific information if needed.

Update: I took all spark plugs out and saw that cylinder 5 was completely fouled with oil. Since the PCV valve bleeder line goes into the intake of cylinder 5 I'm thinking that the smoke/oil is from excess oil being sucked up through the PCV valve and into cylinder 5. Like I mentioned above the valve cover was just replaced and the PCV valve is built into the valve cover so it is new as well. Now I'm wondering if the oil return under the valve cover is clogged and causing the oil to build up to the point where it is sucked up through the PCV valve. The intermittent smoke begins after the about 30min of driving so maybe it takes that long to fill it up high enough to be sucked up by the PCV valve??? Can someone tell me where the oil return ports are under the valve cover so I can clean them out? Thanks, Nick

U should have clean the Intake manifold hose to the PVC valve and the intake itself . Or it could ruin the PVC again
