My 2001 VW Jetta runs but won't move. It made a loud noise while driving and then wouldn't move. It's a 5 speed. What are the possible problems?

sounds like the same thing that happened to my buddys car. Big thunk while driving and then it would not move. Put it in reverse after a shuttdown and it should start up again. Unfortunately i still don't know what it was that went i jsut know it was something in the trany. So your likely looking at a trany rebuild to find the issue.
